Pharmaceutical education plays
extremely role in having equitable and sustainable
development in the country. The degree curriculum in some of
the developed countries generally needs 5 years of academic
study. In most of European countries the completion of the
university degree results into the one-year internship. The
recognized pharmacy education of India like 3-years degree
in BHU dates back in the year 1932. Since then, there is

Present Education Standards

two-year diploma in the pharmacy education of India is

diagnostics. Several new drugs can be given and targeted for
the specific diseases. Pharmacists may need to become
accustomed for this changing pattern to be seen through the
patient like part of the health care team. Nevertheless in
spite of numerous lacunae in the pharmacy education system,
fact may not be overlooked, which tremendous development in
field of latest drug discovery as well as research
activities, is made. The research centers associated with
the pharmaceutical institutes have played significant role
in that regard. Notable amongst them are Mandsaur, BRNCRC, &
TIFAC CORE in the JSS College of Pharmacy, in Ooty; ACCUNOVA,
and TIFAC CORE in the Manipal College of Pharmaceutical
Sciences, in Manipal and more. All these steps taken
presently to upgrade pharmacy education have to be
maintained for the appropriate utilization and development
of the course. Despite all these, the emphasis must be given
to the fields like Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Drug
Regulatory Affairs, and Clinical Trials (National and
International).
