dentistry as the career or stream of study, was looked down
and out. With the technology advancement and latest
equipments, perception for dentistry has changed immensely,
in the positive way. With Dentist Act 1948, the Dental
education as well as dentistry as the profession, was
synchronized throughout India. It is backed by Ministry of
Health & Family Welfare and Department of Health through
Government of India.
India is having several dental institutes and colleges that

talented teachers, etc. Each year, dental colleges of India
produce high-quality dentists. Minimum eligibility criteria
to pursue dental education are that one must be over
17-years age and must have passed the 10+2. Students should
also qualify at the PMT (Para Medical Test) at the
state/national level. One may go for different dental
courses like the BDS, MDS, etc.
