The Unani System for medicine

Eligibility
To become the Unani professional
one must have graduate degree of B.U.M.S. or minimum a
Diploma in the Unani science. Degree/postgraduate degree

in India. The basic eligibility is 10+2 with Biology or Bio
+ Maths as major subjects or the Diploma holders having
Biology or associated fields are appropriate to do the
course in the Unani Medicine.
Course Duration
Unani provides both U.G/P.G
programs through various Universities. They follow
Bachelor’s program in Unani medicine or BUMS (Bachelor of
Unani Medicine & Surgery). The duration is 4 ½ years plus
one year internship. The duration of Post graduate program
for Unani medicine or M.D. (Unani) is 3 years.

The compensation of any
Ayurvedic doctor appointed at government hospital or the
department varies between Rs.8, 000 to Rs.13, 000. In the
private practice, the earning can be more and relies
completely on the experience as well as effort put into the
action.
