Medical education in India includes the allopathic medicine as well as other indigenous systems for medicine. The allopathic medicine is the most special for all the systems due to its wider adequacy and global recognition.

 

Pre-University Course/HSSLC

 

It contains HSSLC (Higher Secondary School Leaving Certification) or pre-university studies in Basic Sciences having Physics, Chemistry, and Biology like the major subjects to 2 years. The prospective medical student must have attained the 50 % average marks for qualifying for the medical education. The prospective medical student needs to apply for different competitive exams for attaining seat at any medical colleges or the universities across whole country. In US, the stage is termed as undergraduate education, consisting of 4 years.

 

Undergraduate Medical Education

 

Five years for particular study of Para clinical, preclinical, and clinical subjects make medical student for appearing for the four quality-assured exams through years of study. Preclinical study contains one-year study for Basic sciences like Human Physiology, Human Anatomy, and Human Biochemistry. It makes the way for more in-depth and thorough overview of the Para clinical subjects for Pathology, Forensic Medicine, Microbiology, and Pharmacology for two years.

 

Internship Program

 

It contains one-year rotating internship in different specialties. Only the completion of internship is the medical graduate awarded MBBS degree as well as the license for practicing medicine anywhere in country like a Medical Officer or General Practitioner. He is prescribed as title Doctor. Eternal Medical Registration is needed either in State Medical Council or Indian Medical Council to practice. It includes 3-7 years of residency program needed to practice in US.

 

Post-Graduate Medical Education

 

Entrance to the Post-graduate degree is via competitive exams organized by concerned college/university. It includes 3-years study for achieving the MD/MS degree in any of the medical/surgical specialty respectively.

 

Super-Specialty Medical Education

 

Any doctor, who has the specialty post-graduate degree, can qualify to pursue the super-specialty or the subspecialty education in the field of interest.
